Salsalita ng 2010


MAHIRAP yatang tuusin pero tiyak na higit sambilyong piso ang isinalang upang idikdik, ibuhos na dagat ng basura, sapilitang ibaon sa bumbunan ng balana ang salsalita ng 2010—“mahirap.”

Filthy-rich politicos plunked down hundreds of millions in pesos to tell the populace they’re dirt-poor. That’s irony or they’re men in iron masks—matibay sa kapal ang mukha.

The princely sums thus burnt crackled loudly they’re filthy rich, dirt-poor, no.

Pati apong Musa na wala pang dalawang taon, naging bukambibig ang naturang salsalita… ganoon katindi ang pagsalpak nito sa ulirat ng lahat. Naging bahagi ng tinatawag na zeitgeist o umiiral na kalagayan sa kaisipan, kalinangan at moralidad sa yugto ng panahon.

Pero hindi lumapat na per angusta in augusta, mula dalita tungo pagiging dakila.

Mas tumimo sa isip na “walang mahirap (kung) walang corrupt.”

O, bunsong Klotho o Nona ng aming tadhana, tustos isip-pisi… humabi ng tela ng igagayak na kapalaran o paabutin hanggang rurok saranggola ng kamalayan…kusot-kusot mata ano ba katuturan talaga ng corrupt?

“Bulok” o “bulokabok” ang corrupt sa lupalop nina Kapitan Rolando Mendoza—that boasts of over 80 variants of the Tagalog tongue, that’s how lush the Batangan language is.

Tinutukoy ang sala o lihis sa matuwid na gamit ng isipan, halimbawa, kikikilan ng P150,000 ang pulis na nakasuhan para maibasura na ang asunto, eh, magkano lang ba ang sahod ng pulis? Ibubuyo pa na maging bulok din para magkamal ng pansuhol…

Bulok din ang tawag sa usyoso o nakatunganga lang sa pamumuhay ng ibang tao, sa halip asikasuhin ang sariling buhay… katumbas nito ang katagang “gunggong” o “tanga” na halaw sa isang kuwento ni Kristo… ukol sa amo na nagpamudmod ng pampuhunan sa kanyang mga kabig.

Sa kuwento ni Kristo, isang kabig lang hindi tumubo sa puhunan. Hindi kasi dumiskarte sa pagkakakitaan… binawi sa kanya ang puhunan…at kinuha pa ang kahit katiting na ari-arian, ipinamudmod sa mga kumikitang kabig. Lalong naglupasay sa hirap ang gunggong na ‘yon.

Sa kuwentong ‘yon, tiyak na kukutuban kung bakit hindi talaga Kristiyano ang napakaraming tao sa Pilipinas… kaya kahit mata’y pakurap-kurap, laging nakalublob sa hirap.

Sa mga latag ng lupaing ilang at parang ng Batangan sa kaigtingan ng tag-araw, tiyak mauulinig ang matinis na awit ng ibong pugapog. Kapag katutubong wika lang ang taglay ng isip at dibdib, ganito ang madidinig: “Hirr—ap! Hirr—ap! Hirr-ap!”

Gumagala’t naghahalughog ako ng kung anu-ano doon, pero iba ang pakilasa’t nilalasap na himig sa dinadalit niyong ibon.

Cheerrr up! Cheerrr up! Cheerr up!”

Hear, hear, up! Here, here, up! Hear here, up!”

Kung anumang kasukalan ang kaniig at kasuyo sa tuyong damuhan, para bang kung ano ring ibon ang tinutukoy upang tumindig… rise to a conceivable occasion… at susulsulan pa mandin ng piyok ng ibong tuturyok.

“Tuturok! Tuturok! Tuturok!”

At hindi hirap o pagdurusa ang pagsasaluhan.

Biology-sharp nerds would readily agree with me in this digression... Over their lifetimes, cells are assaulted by a host of biological insults and injuries. IT LOOKED eerie—a blaze of fireflies pulsing like stars in the nippy air, throbbing with mating passions. That show of lights somehow eased the shadows of a Holy Thursday night on a dry river bed a few kilometers trudge up Mount Makiling.
