Asthmatic lingo

LEARNING another tongue allows the learner to acquire another soul, another way of looking into the nature of reality… maybe grasp some more bodies of knowledge codified in such a tongue. And since a soul can be hocked to the Devil, better to have it pawned for another set of skills, an additional arsenal of competence for coming to grips with whatever the world throws as challenge.

Those smattering of Sanskrit and Latin in pleadings and prayers cadged off grimoires and arcane texts to nudge the divine, they must be thrumming with powers undreamt of or uncovered yet… emitte lucem et veritatem.

Mere prayers but I repose faith unflinching in them, for as St. Augustine would have it worded, “Est autem fides credere quod nondum vides; cuius fidei merces est videre quod credis.” Or, “Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”

Such words can take flesh in reality and dwell among us… ah, that’s an outright rip-off from an idea plied in the good news according to the Messiah’s blood brother, St. John.

Say, the Sanskrit seed word for a plea for abundance and prosperity sounds out as s-s-sh-h-r-r-e-e-n-n-g… ah, a meek critter called cicada stays in transformation most of its life beneath the earth’s bowels for 17 years, creeps out as full-grown chanteuse after such period… and lives a mere lousy seven days seeking out a mate, singing all-out such Sanskrit seed word at dusk.

That brief but colorful life can explain the feng shui belief that cicadas bring money to the household with trees where they browse on. The seed word is incessantly sown and is inevitably grown.

Hindi pa man umaarangkada ang mga buwang ng wika ngayong Agosto 2010, dalawang pirasong kataga ang napulot matapos masasaan sa umaatikabong pakikipagtunggaan sa mga kapatid na lalaki sa lungsod ng Tanauan—biling, liping which calls for a fast enunciation on the first syllable, a tad stress on the last. That’s Tagalog for “hang-over.”

And in cerebration of asthmatic lingo that fosters cant thoughts—yeah, cant thoughts-- here’s from an article I recently banged out:

Gut worms grab portions of a child’s food intake that often causes malnutrition, iron-deficiency anemia, and a host of other severe gastro-intestinal ailments. Yet, a tenable level of such parasites in the tummy can also help out stem asthma and eczema, according to Dr. Carsten Flohr, a University of Nottingham-based clinical scientist and Dr. Luc Nguyen Tuyen from the Khanh Hoa Provincial Health Service in central Vietnam.

More applause from findings in other studies: these tummy tenants also provide protection against multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, and type 1 diabetes.

Kuntaw

I T was more than an implement—tough as metal, soft as petal—wielded like lightning to repulse conquerors. Invading Mactan in 1521, Ferdinand Magellan and his men must have thought that their fabled Toledo steel swords would be more than a match more the island’s native defenders—they were dead wrong. The Spaniards never knew what hit them. In the 1900s, American occupation forces in Mindanao particularly in the Sulu islands found themselves under constant harassment from what they called “crazy hermits” or juramentados . The native fighters would fast for days, go through special religious rites, then go forth to storm American garrisons. Even as the .445 caliber pistol was plied out in 1911 to stop seemingly unstoppable fighters, the Americans still never knew what hit them. Looking back with pride at such points in history when their fighting mettle was unleashed in battle, Filipino Muslims, especially the Tausugs of Sulu will, with a little nudge and tug at their patriotic sentimen...
